Order for Tuesday, July 19

Welcome and thank you to our new host for Coral Gables, Lanny!  We look forward to continuing to serve your area.

Mahi fish dip is available this week, so let your host know or email the co-op (see right sidebar) and let us know your group.  We will be delivering local avocados and honey, fish dip, and any coconut oil requested to all locations.

We heard some comments last time about shares that seemed to contain less.   We do apologize if you were actually missing an item (your host will give you something extra this time) but we are finding it increasingly difficult to provide the same amount of food for the same cost.  The price of a share has not increased in 2 1/2 years!  But gas prices continue to rise and costs in general are rising (notice the prices on grocery store shelves.)   If we keep the share price constant, there will be times when you may find one less item in your bag/box or smaller, less expensive items.  We do our utmost to purchase what is on special and get the most for your money, but if we keep the amount of food in the share constant, we will inevitably need to raise the price of a share.  Please give your host feedback on what you would like to see regarding smaller amounts or increased price.  We listen to you!!

Substitutions and Price change

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a safe and happy Fourth of July!

There were a few minor substitutions due to availability issues. Some groups will be getting blackberries instead of blueberries and a bag of 3 romaine hearts instead of the usual two heads of lettuce.

If swapping lettuce with something else on the bonus table, your one bag of 3 romaine hearts would count as 2 items.

Hosts: Sorry, this item is hard to split for half shares. Treat it as you would other odd numbers with the extra on the 1/2 share bonus table.

Call me if you have any questions at 786-251-1000.

Cyndi

PS - Our egg prices have just changed again due to rising cost of organic seed and gas prices. At least that is what we have been told. We will keep prices the same for today, but please be aware of the increase for next pick up. $4.25 per dozen.

Order for Tuesday, July 5th

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!

Enjoy those fire works, but please don’t forget to pick up your veggies! Our order is going in early to accommodate for the holiday schedule and we are looking forward to seeing you on the 5th.

Thanks to all our Coral Gables members for being flexible with your pick up location. Our hosts are happy to accommodate you. We are still looking for a person in Coral Gables to host this group. Please help us spread the word. Hosts get all their produce plus extras for free.

We’ve got some great stuff coming in. I will be solidifying the order Saturday morning so there may be changes if there is an issue of availability, but here’s the plan so far:

Regular share:

Avocados from our local grower (and member, by the way!)

Broccoli (I can’t ever get enough of this great veggie)

Alfalfa sprouts (to sprice up those salads)

Green onions

Grape tomatoes

2 heads of lettuce

Sweet potatoes

Spinach

Zucchini

Cremini mushrooms

Canteloupe

Honey red pluots

Blueberries

Bananas

Fruit share:

Red seedless watermelon

Fuji apples

Yellow nectarines

Green grapes

Don’t forget to ask your host about organic and ABF meats that are now available. We have meat coming in to those who ordered. I may have extra organic stadium hot dogs and turkey bacon available if anyone is interested. All meat items are considered “clean,” no nitrates, no antibiotics, etc. It all good! Let your host know if you want some of the hot dogs or turkey bacon.

We also have lots of honey which I just poured. Half gallon jugs of Orange Blossom are $24. $2 refunded when the jar is returned.

Stephan, the Crackerman, will be bringing us his delicious organic crackers, breads and dips. Let your host know if you want a bread share $18 or individual items. See previous post for pricing and additional extras.

Here's to your health,

Cyndi (and Martha)

Order for Tuesday, June 7th

Note from Cyndi and Martha:

Warm welcome to our host Pamela Bell for helping out with the South Miami Group. South Miami members will be picking up this week only at the home of Patricia Cruz at 201 Arvida Parkway in Gables Estates (near Kendall and Old Cutler). If you have any questions regarding pick up call Pam at 305-794-6637.

We have immediate openings in the following locations: Coral Gables (1/2 share), the Roads (3 shares), Kendall (1 share). We are also looking at opening new groups, one near Zoo Miami and one in west Kendall. Help us pass the word to your friends in these areas who may be interested. We greatly appreciate it!

Crackerman's bread shares and organic dips are available. Let your host know if you want anything. In addition to the usual bread share items, we have a basil white bean dip, oatmeal raisin cookies and a fruit bread that is delicious with hard cheeses. Can't wait to try some. Stephan, the Crackerman, says they sell out of this at the farmer's market. Supply is limited. Sorry, no bread share items for next delivery on June 21st.

We have just added meat to our "menu". Check with your host if interested in organic and ABF (antibiotic free) meats. Basically, we can offer everything carried by Whole Foods. We also have an incredible line of FL grass-fed beef which can be ordered by the pound and by packages which come in coolers. We do have to order in bulk two weeks in advance, so orders need to be coordinated by your host now for next delivery on the 28th.

We have an extra, but limited supply of ABF skinless boneless chicken breasts ($6.25 per pound) and smoked turkey andouli sausage ($6.30 per pound) this week. Let your host know today if you would like some.

We hope you enjoy the produce this week. Stone fruits are coming into season so we will be seeing more of those along with the melons.

Buen provecho!
