Check it out:  We're trying something new this week!  Look over the list of what is coming first.  Then decide if you would like to see a bit more in your box.  (Some of our members have been reminiscing our co-op a few years ago when, for the same price, we got a bit more!)  For this week I am order extras to be added to your bag for $8.  It will give you a chance to see what the share could look like if we were to raise our prices.  I have hesitated for a long time to do this, opting instead to decrease the quantity in our box as the cost of produce has gone up.  However, I find myself searching the shelves of the local grocery store, buying things I still need but unhappy with the cost or the quality.  I want your feedback!  I'm not sure I can always offer it as an extra, but the items listed are things I wanted so I hope you concur.  Talk to your host.  I'd prefer to have each group decide if they would like to move in the direction of paying a bit more for a better selection in the box.

Our Redlands host is back in town.  Welcome back, Jena!  She is sadly unable to continue hosting after September and we are in the process of looking for a new host and hope to make this transition a smooth one.   I want to give the members of the group first dibs on the hosting spot (free produce and eggs!), but if no one is able, we will search outside the group.  If you or someone you know lives in the Redlands area (somewhere between SW 232 Street and SW 248 Street) please contact me!  I would also prefer to find someone who can commit to at least one year.

What are we getting this week? This is still a preliminary list.  Substitutions may occur on occasion.

Our local egg supply has been growing.
Special thanks to Dave and Isabel Schieferly for inviting our community to their farm to see how they are building an organic sustainable farm from the ground up!  We love your eggs!  Dave and Isabel are supplying us in Redlands and Homestead with pastured eggs.  Their chickens are fed all non-GMO, soy free, organic feed in addition to munchies growing on the farm!  These eggs are $6.50 dozen.  Limited supply.
Our standard option for $5.10 dozen is either local pastured conventional eggs or organic free roaming.

Organic Coconut Flour:  Our family eats Gluten Free so I am always looking for good wholesome foods to supplement.  Tropical Traditions has a ton of recipes online using this healthy, high protein flour.  $10 per bag, 2.2 lb each.

Freezer meal workshops are being offered by two members:   Kristin in Cutler Bay is a Pampered Chef rep and Laura Ortega in Miami Springs is a Wild-tree rep.   Workshops are generally free with the purchase of necessary pantry items included in the recipe selection.  And no clean up is an added bonus!   Ask about prizes and free samples too.   Contact them for more details.  Kristin in Cutler Bay is a rep for Pampered Chef.  Her email is kristinpc@aol.com.  They offer fabulous kitchen tools, recipe ideas and a growing number of tasty pantry items.  One of her workshops is a Paleo Menu.  We also have a Wild-tree rep in Miami Springs: Laura Ortega.  Her email is lauraortega16@gmail.com.  They specialize in all organic products for your pantry.  I was especially impressed by the delicious seasonings and flavored grape-seed oil.  One looks like a great butter substitute that I wanted to give a try.  I'll let you know how it goes!   Both companies are going gluten free with all pantry seasonings!  Let them know Healthy Habits referred you!
